Memorial service held for fallen Fort Carson soldier

A memorial service for a fallen Fort Carson Soldier was held at the Soldier Memorial Chapel Friday morning.

Sgt. Joseph P. Collette was assigned to the 242nd Ordnance Battalion, 71st Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group.

Collette was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and died March 22 during combat operations. Fort Carson soldier Sgt. 1st Class Will D. Lindsay of Cortez also died during the same combat.

Cameras were not allowed inside the chapel during the memorial service honors, but we were able to capture the moment there was a rifle squad salute and a final tribute with the playing of Taps.
