Road closures during Wednesday’s severe weather in Southern Colorado

Drivers traveling around Southern Colorado were impacted by Wednesday’s severe weather.

As of 12:45 p.m., the City of Colorado Springs was placed on accident alert status due to the incoming weather conditions. At 6:45 a.m. Thursday, the City of Colorado Springs was taken off accident alert status.

Mountain Metro is set to have a system-wide shutdown starting at 6:15 p.m.

CDOT says depending on the severity of the weather, some highways may close, such as I-25 over Monument Hill and I-70 in the Eastern Plains. The agency recommends sheltering “sooner rather than later” due to the visibility issues that are expected.
