Colorado State Patrol trooper’s car hit on Highway 160

Icy conditions led to a crash involving a Colorado State Patrol trooper Wednesday in Montezuma County.

The trooper’s car was hit around 3:30 p.m. on Highway 160; CSP says a trooper was inside the vehicle for another incident when the crash happened near mile marker 61.

The trooper and the other driver were taken to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

During the last blizzard in mid-March, another CSP trooper was hit in a similar situation on Interstate 76. Cpl. Daniel Groves was killed in that crash.
