Marty’s Saturday Morning Forecast – Few PM Showers Possible – 4/6/19
Today: We’ll be slightly cooler today with a mixture of clouds and sun and spotty showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon hours. The rain showers may possibly become mixed with a little wet snow over the mountains at times. High temperatures should reach the 60s to lower 70s over the plains with mainly 50s for the mountains, but afternoon showers will cool the air as they pass by.
Tonight: Scattered evening showers should wind down, then partly cloudy with low temperatures in the 30s and 40s for the plains, 20s to lower 30s for the mountains.
Sunday: The air may be just slightly cooler on Sunday and we expect some mountain wave clouds may begin developing over the area during the afternoon, but the plains should still warm well into the 60s with 50s again over the mountains. A few sprinkles or flurries may develop over the mountains late but we don’t expect much precipitation anywhere on Sunday.
Extended: The work week will start out warm with high temperatures in the 60s and 70s on Monday. A shallow layer of cooler air looks to remain to our northeast on Tuesday, and if so we expect the air to warm into the 70s and 80s over the plains during the afternoon. We do expect some mountain wave clouds to obscure the sun at times early next week, and the wind will pick up noticeably on Tuesday. Wednesday looks to be a transition day for the area as a cold front arrives ushering in an extended period of colder and unsettled weather. The wind will be strong on Wednesday, and although the day may start out pretty warm we do expect sharply colder air to race across the area during the day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will change to snow showers over the higher terrain late Wednesday, and although the heaviest snow should remain to our north it is possible that some accumulating snow will fall over the higher terrain into Thursday morning. Chilly air with a few rain and/or snow showers are expected on Thursday, and although Friday should be a little warmer there may still be enough instability around for a few showers.
