Renovation work at Air Force Academy chapel indefinitely postponed

Scheduled renovation work at the Air Force Academy chapel is indefinitely postponed.

According to an academy spokesperson, $68 million that was set aside for the project is now going toward hurricane damage repair at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida. More than $3 billion may be needed to repair the base after all of its buildings were damaged by Hurricane Michael back in October.

The academy’s chapel was scheduled to be closed January 1 to repair leaks in the building.

An academy spokesperson tells us no future renovation projects are scheduled at this time.

This is a developing story. We’ll be sure to pass along more information as we get it.
