Pueblo West man arrested in connection with Texas cold case
More than 25 years after a 40-year-old woman was found dead in her Texas home, a Pueblo West man has been arrested for murder.
The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office says it worked with the U.S. Marshal Service to arrest 73-year-old Jesse Hogue during a traffic stop Thursday near Platteville Blvd.
Jesse Hogue is a suspect in the Feb. 1994 murder of Jackie Hogue. She was found shot to death in Potter County, Texas, which is north of Amarillo.
Investigators recently reopened the case and learned that Jesse had moved to Colorado, the sheriff’s office said.
The Potter County Sheriff’s Office told ABC7 in Amarillo that a television series on the Oxygen Channel, Cold Justice, sought to assist them with an unsolved homicide.
ABC7 says the team with Cold Justice and the PCSO worked to investigate further and reprocess evidence. They also got a commitment from the District Attorney’s Office that it would review the findings if a case was presented.
It’s not yet clear what evidence led to investigators identifying Hogue as the suspect.
We’re working on confirming Jackie’s relationship to Jesse.
Hogue has been booked into the Pueblo County Jail and will likely face extradition to Texas.
This is a developing story.
