STORM MODE: Blizzard warnings in place – 3/13/19

TODAY: The morning begins with foggy weather, rain in the lower elevations and a wet snow over the mountains. Winds won’t be that strong for most before sunrise but by the mid to late morning, those gusts start to strengthen and cooler air works into this storm. This will change everything over to snow in the Pikes Peak Region by the mid morning hours. Blizzard warnings for El Paso County and Winter Storm Warnings for Teller County go into place at 10AM and will be allowed to expire by 6AM tomorrow. Colorado Springs’ Blizzard Warning will expire at 4PM today. Everyone will be seeing snow and 70 mph winds during the afternoon which will create those white out conditions and the potential for damage and power outages. DO NOT drive on the roads through El Paso County this afternoon if you can avoid it. Travel will be dangerous to near impossible.

TONIGHT: Snow showers will continue off and on through tonight and the wind wont be letting up, especially east of I-25. Less wind is expected by sunrise tomorrow morning for most places along the interstate.

EXTENDED: The weekend looks a lot nicer! We will be sunny and warmer Friday through Sunday.
