The suspect was later booked into the Spring Creek Youth Services Center on charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and First Degree Assault.

Due to his age, his name was not released.

PREVIOUS STORY: Three people were shot in a drive-by shooting outside the Citadel Mall back on December 18.

Police initially said two people had been shot but police discovered there was a third victim, a juvenile. He went to the hospital for treatment the following day and was treated and released.

Police also said there is another juvenile victim, a female who was not hit by gunfire but is considered a victim in this investigation.

Lt. Howard Black, public information officer says the people involved in this shooting appear to know each other, and as right now is not gang-related. “We might have individuals who claim to be gang members who are involved in personal disputes or other events outside of a gang activity,” Black says.

He continues, “this is something that could have happened anywhere,” explaining the Citadel Mall or its customers were not the targets.

The shopping center reopened at 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Jill Lais, marketing director for the mall said, “unfortunately shopping centers aren’t immune to the issues we have in society and sometimes random acts happen and that’s exactly what happened yesterday.”

Police are still looking for those responsible for the shooting. If anyone has information or witnessed the shooting is asked to call police at (719) 444-7000.
