Accused cold case killer extradicted

Accused cold case killer, James Alan Neal, has been moved from the El Paso County Jail to an undisclosed location.

Neal was arrested Feb. 19, 2019. The 72-year-old is accused of kidnapping and killing Linda O’Keefe in 1973. She was just 11 years old, and was last seen walking to her Newport Beach, CA home from summer school. She had been strangled and left on the side of a road.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson, Jackie Kirby, confirmed Neal had been moved Monday afternoon. A call to California’s Orange County Sheriff’s Office to confirm Neal’s whereabouts had not been returned at the time of this publishing.

Neal, a retired construction worker, faces charges of murder, kidnapping during the commission of murder, and willful premeditated lewd and lascivious acts upon a child.

An online geneaological database provided investigators with “pointers” that matched DNA left on O’Keefe’s dress to that of Neal’s.
