Police: Colorado Springs anesthesiologist illegally filled opioid prescriptions

Colorado Springs police say an anesthesiologist working out of an office on N. Academy was illegally filling opioid prescriptions through her employees and patients.

CSPD issued a report Friday saying the investigation into Dr. Agnes Flaum started back in January.

It’s not clear exactly who was receiving the opioids in the end, but police reported that “after employees filled several prescriptions for [Flaum], they reported the activity to the previous owner of the practice, who then reported the situation to [police.]”

Flaum turned herself in later, but she’s currently not in the El Paso County jail. No bond information was given, and police didn’t say exactly what crime she’s suspected of.

We’ve been trying to get more information about the investigation, but multiple calls to the police department have gone unanswered.

CSPD says the Colorado Medical Board took steps to suspend Flaum until further notice.
