Wind Alert Day – 3/7/19

TODAY: Winds will start to increase following the mid morning hours, especially through lunch and the last part of the afternoon. Gusts should be between about 30 and 40 through the Pikes Peak Region with gusts to around 60 mph in the lower elevations of Las Animas County. Pikes Peak and the southern mountains are under high wind warnings today, so winds will be gusting to 75 mph there. Temperatures will be in the 50s and 60s today thanks to some westerly flow.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy skies are in the forecast tonight with overnight lows in the 20s and 30s.

EXTENDED: The long range forecast looks quiet through the first part of Friday, altough things will be pretty windy. Rain and snow lift in from the west and will cross the I-25 cooridor through the overnight. Saturday morning will bring a few snow showers but accumulation isn’t likely. Better chances for rain and snow are in the forecast for Monday night into Tuesday.
