Family shares experience after I-70 avalanche buries their car with snow

Monday afternoon, a third avalanche was reported near Frisco in the same area where two were caught on camera just Sunday. Only the most recent one did not reach I-70.

A seemingly scenic view of snowy mountains turned into a terrifying white out in just a matter of seconds.

“The moment I saw it, at first I was thinking how big is it, is this going to actually hit us or not,” said Shaun Goleman, an avalanche survivor.

It’s an experience he shared in a video where he shows I-70 completely covered in white powder.

“It pushed our truck completely sideways. We were blind completely blind. It was white out in the windows,” he said.

It was just the second avalanche to hit the area that same day. A rolling wall of snow also hit I-70 between Frisco and Copper Mountain earlier in the day.

The man who captured the moment on camera also shared what it was like to see the thick blanket of snow roaring towards him.

“We saw the collapse getting bigger and bigger and just coming down faster and faster,” said Jacob Easton.

Drivers stopped in their tracks after their cars were covered with a dusting as the slide came to a stop.

As frightening of an experience as it was, drivers say the result could have been much worse.
