James Neal heading back to California to face murder and kidnapping charges
James Neal was in court again Thursday after last week’s charges hearing was postponed. Neal waived his rights to a hearing and to the governor’s warrant in Colorado, meaning he will be extradited back to California.
Neal’s family was there again, only in greater numbers. Neal was not able to move well, so the judge allowed him to stay in the jury box while she addressed him.
Neal was connected to the 1973 murder of 11-year-old Linda O’Keefe after his DNA was matched with DNA found on her dress.
Neal faces charges of murder and kidnapping in Orange County, where the district attorney is said to be seeking the maximum sentence along with the death penalty.
If James Neal hasn’t been picked up by California State officials, a review hearing has been set here in El Paso County for March, 14 at 9 A.M.
