Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Sunny Start – 2/24/19
Today: We expect a mostly sunny start to the day with some slick spots early this morning , then periods of cloud cover and cool conditions this afternoon. Some areas will become breezy at times this afternoon as well with high temperatures reaching the 30s and 40s.
Tonight: Mostly clear with gusty wind possibly developing over and near the mountains late. By morning the air should have cooled into the teens and 20s away from the mountains, but for any windy areas near the mountains the air may warm into the 30s before daybreak.
Extended: Partly cloudy and a little warmer on Monday with high temperatures reaching the 40s and 50s by Monday afternoon. Tuesday should be a breezy and warm day with high temperatures in the 50s and 60s for the plains, mainly 40s to lower 50s for the mountains. A shallow layer of colder air should knock temperatures back into the 40s for the plains of eastern Colorado on Wednesday but the mountains shouldn’t cool as much. The cold front on Wednesday does not appear likely to produce any significant precipitation over the area, but some areas along and east of the mountains may become blanketed by low cloud cover and patchy fog or freezing fog early in the day. The wind should swing around off of the mountains on Thursday blowing the cold air eastward and allowing temperatures to warm back into the 50s and 60s over the plains. Thursday night and Friday look to be windy as another cold front moves over the state. Friday looks to be much colder with a chance for some snow again.
