New documents released surrounding Patrick Frazee and Kelsey Berreth

New documents released Wednesday give slightly more details surrounding Patrick Frazee and his alleged killing of Kelsey Berreth.

Most of the information was given during Tuesday’s hearing. To get a full recap of what happened in the Teller County courtroom, including allegations that Berreth was blindfolded and beaten by Frazee, click here.

Krystal Kenney, Frazee’s mistress has played a huge role in the case, and now new information reveals her friend had known about Berreth’s murder. According to the affidavit, Kenney’s friend Meghan Garrison helped Kenney travel between Idaho and Colorado.

Kenney used Garrison’s car to travel to Colorado. Garrison later heard about Berreth’s disappearance and realized that her gun, that she carries in her car, was in a different condition after Kenney returned.

Also discovered in the affidavit, Kenney was tracked down by law enforcement through her phone records.

These new details were not disclosed during yesterday’s hearing.

Exploring Kenney’s relationship with Frazee ultimately helped investigators build a case against him.

We dug deeper into Krystal Kenney’s role in this case moving forward and what she’s getting in exchange for her cooperation.

At first, it looked like Kenney may have only been involved by disposing Kelsey Berreth’s cell phone. But we now know the true extent of her involvement.

According to testimony, she cleaned up the bloody crime scene and repeatedly agreed to kill Berreth.

“You heard the evidence today of the three times and each time she did abandon it but that’s something you can ask your legal advisers on,” said 4th Judicial District Attorney, Dan May.

So we asked Karl Tameler, a top defense attorney in Pueblo, who knows a little something about high profile cases. He says Kenney’s information is crucial to the case, so cutting her a deal is beneficial for both parties.

“If she was charged as a conspirator, or complicitor in the offense, she could be looking at the same kind of penalties that the actual killer was looking at,” he said.

If you recognize Tameler, it’s because he’s the attorney defending Donthe Lucas, another man accused of murdering his girlfriend.

The difference in this case: a witness.

But how credible is Kenney’s information?

“The body is gone, the phone did end up in Idaho and so she does present a plausible explanation from some of the aspects that happened and at this point she’s the only one with that information,” Tameler said.

“Her testimony today and one of the questions today is we wouldn’t even know where the murder happened in the apartment even or which room of where it happened at all without her testimony,” said May.

But Tameler says it’s questionable that Kenney didn’t call police and supposedly left evidence for investigators to find.

“It’s kind of a stretch of the imagination that you left anything behind. She didn’t volunteer to be a witness in this case. They found her from some means or another. So I think she’s trying to save her face a little bit,” he said.

How it will all play out in a trial is to be seen, but Kenney’s deal with the state gives her leniency she’s never see without her eye-witness testimony.
