First Lady Melania Trump visits with pediatric patients to make Valentine’s Day art
First Lady Melania Trump spent her Valentine’s Day doing arts-and-crafts with pediatric patients Thursday.
According to The Associated Press, The First Lady was visiting children at The Children’s Inn on the campus of the National Institutes of Health outside Washington, a nonprofit residence for children and families participating in pediatric research at NIH.
Part of the crafts included The First Lady and children writing their “favorite things” on construction paper hearts and sticking them on a board for everyone to see.
Mrs. Trump went with “My favorite city is Washington.”
First Lady Melania Trump also helped the kids make candy boxes and passed out a variety of sugary treats and snow globes.
The Associated Press reports Amani, a 13-year-old boy from Mombasa, Kenya, was responsible for showing her how to turn a wooden clothespin into a colorful clip.
“This is a big project,” Mrs. Trump said during the tutorial, according to AP.
The First Lady told Amani she would pray for him because he has sickle cell disease and is preparing for a bone marrow transplant with marrow donated by his sister, according to the White House said.
In return, Armani gave Mrs. Trump a red heart-shaped box that held a silver necklace with the words “Hope & Faith” inscribed on it. He also gave her a bouquet of white roses.
This is the same hospital Melania Trump was at on Valentine’s Day last year before she heard the horrible news of 17 people being shot to death at a high school in Florida.
