Crash causes 1 death, 1 injury on I-25 near Mesa Ridge Parkway

Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that briefly shut down several lanes of Interstate 25 south of Colorado Springs Wednesday evening.

Troopers tell KRDO Newschannel 13 that Bethany Meisner, 26, rear-ended a car driven by Lucas Huffman, 33, near Mesa Ridge Parkway. That’s when Huffman’s car crossed the median and struck a car driven by Yesenia Rodriguez, 41, head-on.

Investigators say Huffman was ejected from his car and died at the scene. Rodriguez was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Meisner was not hurt. All three drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

At this time alcohol and drugs are not considered to be factors in this crash, though charges are still pending.
