Absolutely Colorado: Local non-profit making sure everyone has access to bikes

The local non-profit ‘Kids on Bikes’ was founded in 2005 not only to address the needs of kids that don’t have bikes but also to help combat the rise in childhood obesity.

When a child receives a bike from Kids on Bikes they are also provided with the proper tools and education to ride safety.

Executive Director, Daniel Byrd, tells us over 700 bikes have been given out to the community since they opened in 2016.

Much of the success for the pedal station, a social enterprise of kids on bikes, is due to the partnership with mountain equipment recyclers.

This weekend is the 5th annual 24 trainer challenge. Riders will bike for 24 hours and raise money for Kids on Bikes. This event will be happening at Memorial Park starting Friday at 8 p.m.
