Chipotle planning to add drive-thrus at some of its locations

Chiptole just got a whole lot more convenient for its customers. The Mexican style fast-food chain is now offering drive-thru lanes at some of their locations.

That’s right! You’ll soon be able to satisfy your Chipotle cravings without even having to leave the comfort of your vehicle. Chipotle plans to open the drive-thrus in 2019.

If you’re wondering how you’ll be able to customize your burrito or burrito bowl from your car, here’s how it works. The drive-thrus are not you’re traditional ones. Rather than pulling up to a speaker to shout your order, you order your meal ahead of time via the Chipotle website or app.

“Customers who order online or via the app can use these lanes to pick up their order without leaving their car,” said a Chiptole press release. “The drive-up pickup lanes are currently in the test phase, which will be expanded to a few dozens of Chipotle’s 2019 restaurant openings across several markets.”

The method has been tested at several existing Chipotle locations in states like Ohio and Illinois and had great success. The chain says it’s a good way to beat the lunch rush, while never having to leave your car.

With the new drive-thrus, Chipotle is also planning on adding new in-store pickup shelves for to-go orders. This gives customers the opportunity to place their order online or through the app and go straight to the pick-up shelves to receive it.

Currently, around 1,000 Chipotle stores have in-store pickup shelves. However, by the middle of this year, Chipotle plans for every location to have this feature.
