Colorado Springs Police Department warns public of recent phone scam

The Colorado Springs Police Department is warning the public about a recent phone scam that’s happening.

They say people are calling citizens, pretending to be with the CSPD and say the person will be immediately arrested if they do not pay unpaid taxes. The scammer also demands that the individual take out money and send it to them.

Police say sometimes the number on the caller ID will even show up as one from the Colorado Springs Police Department.

If you receive a call like this, you’re advised to immediately hang up. The Colorado Springs Police Department says it is a hoax and they would never make such a call regarding taxes.
