5 children ages 12 to 16 charged in murder of Nashville musician

Five children, ages 12 to 16, were charged with the murder of a Nashville, Tennessee musician.

Roniyah McKnight, 14, Diamond Lewis, 15, and Decorrius Wright, 16, are charged in the murder of 24-year-old Belmont graduate and local musician Kyle Yorlets.

A 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy are also charged in the murder, but because of their age, by law, they were not able to be identified.

According to Metro Police, the suspects stole a Chevy pickup truck in an alley that sat behind Yorlets’ home when they spotted him outside. The children then robbed Yorlets of his wallet and demanded he hand over his keys.

When the victim refused, the suspects then fatally shot Yorlets, according to police. Authorities were able to recover the stolen pickup truck Thursday evening near Timberland Drive in Hermitage.

Police also found all five suspects in a stolen vehicle near a west Nashville Walmart where they were taken into custody. After a search, authorities recovered two stolen pistols.

The investigation is still ongoing.
