Woman pleads guilty to tampering with evidence in Kelsey Berreth case

Krystal Lee Kenney admitted she played a role in the Kelsey Berreth case Friday morning.

Kenney, 32, appeared before a Teller County judge and plead guilty to one felony county of tampering with evidence in the Kelsey Berreth case. Kenney was in tears as she admitted her role in the case to the judge.

Berreth’s parents were not in the courtroom.

The judge had reminded Kenney that she is required to testify against Patrick Frazee in his murder trial and that she will only be sentenced after his murder trial. Part of the agreement is that Kenney is not allowed to talk to the press.

Kenney said when she learned that Frazee had committed homicide, she knew the victim’s cell phone would be used to try and locate the victim.

District Attorney Dan May addressed the media after the hearing and said Kenney’s sentence will be anywhere from 18 months to 3 years in prison. The sentencing has been postponed until any other charges and trials are finished.

There will be a review for Kenney on Monday, June 24 at 11:00 a.m.

Kenney is a nurse from Twin Falls, Idaho. She is a divorced mother of two and is believed to have been having a romantic relationship with Frazee.

Sources close to Kenney told ABC News that she has known Frazee for years, and they reportedly worked together at one time.

Kenney was involved in rodeo, being named 2008 Rodeo Queen of the Magic Valley Stampede. Frazee also was involved in rodeo, according to social media posts obtained by KRDO NewsChannel 13.

Recently, Kenney was employed as a pre-op nurse at the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.
