Nurse in Kelsey Berreth case to plead guilty

A nurse from Twin Falls, Idaho, is expected to plead guilty to at least one charge in connection to the disappearance of Kelsey Berreth.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney said Krystal Lee, 32, faces one count of tampering with physical evidence, a class 6 felony.

Lee will appear in a Teller County courtroom on Friday, Feb. 8.

A complaint was filed Monday showing a charge against Krystal Kenney (Lee) for tampering with physical evidence-destroy.

KRDO reported on Jan. 5 that Lee was believed to have disposed of Berreth’s phone in the days after she was last seen alive.

According to Lee’s relatives, she will enter a plea deal with prosecutors. The relatives spoke anonymously because the deal hasn’t been publicly announced.

KRDO spoke to Criminal Defense Attorney Alex Berry who explains the plea deal is likely a good option for her at this point.

“Obviously she thinks if she goes to trial she will get convicted,” said Berry. “It’s likely she’s doing just a straight guilty plea.”

Berry explained she may testify against Frazee in order to get some reduced penalties.

Lee is a divorced mother of two, is believed to have been having a romantic relationship with Patrick Frazee. Sources close to Lee told ABC News that the pair have known each other for years, and reportedly worked together at one time.

She was involved in rodeo, being named 2008 Rodeo Queen of the Magic Valley Stampede. Frazee also was involved in rodeo, according to social media posts obtained by KRDO NewsChannel 13.

Recently, Lee was employed as a pre-op nurse at the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Family members say Lee has been cooperating with investigators.
