Weather Alert Day: Cold, wind and snow – 2/6/19

TODAY: We will be sunny and clear this morning around Southern Colorado, but by 9AM, snow will be pushing into places around Pikes Peak and Teller County. It spreads east across the I-25 cooridor through 11AM-1PM today, but should be relatively light in most places at this point. Wind will be picking up through the mid afternoon and when combined with more late afternoon snow, will create white out conditions over Monument Hill. Roads between Monument and Denver will be the worst this evening, so plan on a slow go for your evening commute. Highs today will be in the 30s and 40s through noon, and then following that we cool things off. Accumulations will generally be less than 2″ around the Palmer Divide and through Teller County, with even less here in Springs and Canon City. Pueblo isn’t expected to get any accumulation at all.

TONIGHT: Snow wraps up after midnight, but skies remain breezy. Lows cool to the teens and single digits with a wind chill between -5 and -10.

EXTENDED: We could see a few lingering snowflakes for Thursday morning, but most of the day brings clearing and chilly temps. Highs tomorrow only warm into the 20s and 30s. The first part of the weekend looks nice with temps back in the upper 40s under sunshine on Saturday.
