Fire damages home Friday in southeast Colorado Springs

A Colorado Springs man and his dog were forced out of their home by a fire Friday afternoon.

It happened just after 1 p.m. in the 300 block of Kenwood Circle, near the intersection of Chelton Road and Airport Road on the city’s southeast side.

The fire was fully involved when firefighters arrived, with smoke and flames erupting from the home.

The owner wasn’t home at the time and his dog was rescued from inside.

Several neighbors said they saw or heard the fire when it began.Numerous fire engines responded to extinguish the fire and ensure that it didn’t spread to adjacent homes.

The cause and extent of damage remain under investigation.
