Pot-themed sub shop Cheba Hut coming to Colorado Springs

Cheba Hut has been slinging subs with a stoner flair for the past two decades in Colorado, but the chain is finally bringing its first store to Colorado Springs soon.

The sub shop has a location planned for 3171 N. Chestnut Street, according to Cheba Hut’s website. It’s going in that new development just north of Fillmore near I-25. (MAP)

The hut is known for toasted subs named after pot strains (like White Widow and Acapulco Gold), snacks that are right out of a stoner’s drawer of munchies (think loaded nachos made with Doritos and ranch or just a straight-up plate of meatballs), and original artwork.

Each store also develops its own secret menu based on employees’ ideas and customers’ suggestions.

It’s not clear when it will open, but it shouldn’t take very long because the chain has been expanding rapidly in recent years. There are 24 stores open in several states, and company owner Scott Jennings told Westword he sees the company adding “three to five locations a year, both franchised and company-owned.”
