Missing 13-year-old boy found dead after leaving home during Iowa snowstorm

A missing boy from Iowa was found dead Sunday after leaving home on Tuesday, Jan. 22.

The Marshalltown police chief reports, surveillance video captured footage of 13-year-old Corey Brown leaving his home late at night after having an argument with his parents. Police say that was the last time Brown was seen.

Search efforts were made throughout the town after Brown’s disappearance. It wasn’t until days later that his body was found in a secluded area on the west side of Marshalltown, Iowa.

CNN reports the circumstances surrounding the discovery of Brown’s body is unclear.

Police say there is no evidence or information that indicates criminal activity is connected to Brown’s disappearance and death. However, authorities say it is still an active investigation and all possible scenarios will be thoroughly investigated.

The Brown family thanked Marshalltown community for their support during this difficult time. The family also thanked public safety personnel and volunteers, who worked diligently during the search for Corey.
