Teller County gets fourth snowstorm in two weeks
As of 5 p.m. Monday evening, driving on U.S. 24 through Ute Pass was steady, with both lanes in each direction cleared by plow crews after several inches of new snow fell.
Highway 67 also was in good condition near Woodland Park.
Light to moderate snow fell in Woodland Park throughout the morning, and again briefly during late afternoon. That produced lots of plowing activity in parking lots and on sidewalks.
Most of the snowfall ended around 10:30 a.m., when skies cleared and sunshine contributed to melting some of the snow.
Still, the town has numerous snow piles from previous storms this month.
“We’re not tired of it,” a resident said. “I love it and wish there was more. We need the moisture. It takes more than a few inches to bother us. Two or 3 feet would definitely cause problems but we haven’t had a storm like that in quite a while.”
Another resident said he’s thankful for the snow bringing him extra landscaping business.
“It helps make some extra money and put food on the table for the family,” he said.
No serious crashes were reported in the area but authorities advised drivers to watch for icy spots where melted snow has frozen.
