U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds performing Super Bowl LIII flyover

The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds are set to make a special appearance at over Super Bowl LIII next Sunday.

The Air Force announced that the Thunderbirds would be performing the flyover during the National Anthem performance Feb. 3 in Atlanta, Georgia when the New England Patriots take on the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s the first public event in 2019 for the Thunderbirds, which was first started in 1953. The Thunderbirds team consists of eight pilots, four support officers, more than 100 enlisted airmen, and three civilians.

The last time the Thunderbirds flew over a Super Bowl was in 2017 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The Patriots won that game against the Falcons in a spectacular overtime affair.
