Detectives raid marijuana grow in Hanover, find card skimming operation

Detectives raided a house with a suspected illegal marijuana grow inside and ended up discovering a credit/gift card skimming and copying operation.

According to a report released Thursday, detectives with the Colorado Springs Police Department and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office searched the house in the 18000 block of Hanover Road. (MAP)

Officers say they found 88 flowering marijuana plants and also found evidence to search another house in the Midway area.

When detectives searched that home, they found evidence that suspects had been skimming credit cards and then making fraudulent credit cards and gift cards. One person was in possession of “a large amount of fraudulent cards and skimming equipment,” according to police.

Two men, Juan Borrego and Emir Ekias, were arrested on marijuana cultivation and identity fraud charges. Their mugshots haven’t been released yet.

We’ll update this article when their mugshots are available.
