1 found dead in sleeping bag after blizzard in Colorado Springs
The overnight blizzard left a wintry wake over southern Colorado claimed at least one life in Colorado Springs.
Colorado Springs police say they found a body in a sleeping bag on a bus bench near the intersection of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Academy Blvd. Tuesday morning.
On Thursday, police confirmed the victim was a homeless man and identified him as Calvin Reeves.
The cause of death hasn’t been officially been released by the coroner’s office, but it’s likely Reeves was trying to sleep through the blizzard when he died.
Monday night’s storm brought temperatures in the low-to-mid 20s, but winds were gusting up to 60 mph and were strong throughout the night. Wind chills ranged from the single digits to -10 degrees.
Police say the death isn’t suspicious.
