Weather Alert Day: Slow clearing – 1/22/19

TODAY: A blizzard warning for the Palmer Divide has been allowed to expire. That has been replaced with a winter weather advisory through 2PM today. An additional 1″ of accumulation is likely in areas here as snow bands work to clear out. Gusts will be in the 30 to 35 mph range around El Paso County, with gusts into the 30s and 40s elsewhere. When the snow combines with the strong winds, isolated white out conditions are still likely in Southern Colorado. Travel will be icy through part of the afternoon and should continue to improve in snow free areas through the evening. Snow will taper off for everyone following the 2PM hour from northwest to southeast with highs staying in the 20s and 30s.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy to mostly clear and cold with lows in the teens and single digits.

EXTENDED: We get into a break in the weather as we head into Wednesday. Skies will be partly cloudy and temps warm into the 30s and 40s. More snow is likely on Thursday but this round doensn’t look nearly as intense or problematic. The weekend looks beautiful with highs in the 40s and 50s.
