Man caught breaking into cars on Motor City Drive

Officers were called to the 1200 block of Motor City Drive Saturday morning for reports of a man breaking into vehicles.

Upon arrival, witnesses told officers what the suspect looked like and which direction he left the scene. Officers were able to locate the man, 39-year-old David Porterfield.

Porterfield tried to run from officers but was cornered.

He was arrested and charged with motor vehicle theft, burglary of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are anticipated.
