Weather Alert Friday 1-17-19

TONIGHT: Becoming breezy to windy overnight from west winds. Between the wind and increasing clouds, lows will stay in the 20s and 30s. Snow will continue pushing eastward arriving to the Sangres overnight and through the Palmer Divide and Pikes Peak Region by the morning hours.

TOMORROW: Friday is a weather alert day. We will be seeing light rain and snow moving in for the mid morning hours before it picks up in coverage for the afternoon. Places over 7,000 feet still have the best chance of seeing all snow tomorrow. Lower elevations will be seeing a rain snow mix or all rain. Mountain roads will be impacted the most before everyone sees some slick conditions for the evening. All snow is expected for a brief period before it clears out by midnight. Places through the Pikes Peak Region will see less than 2″, with isolated spots to 3″ around the Palmer Divide. Pueblo area and the Plains will only see an inch or less. Several inches of snow are expected on the east facing slopes of the Sangres and Wets. Strong north winds will gust around 40-50 mph with highs being met early in the day. After reaching the 30s and 40s, temps will drop throughout the afternoon.

EXTENDED: This system moves out by Saturday with warmer and drier conditions continuing through the weekend. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the 40s and 50s by Sunday. Martin Luther King Day starts mild but increasing chances for snow move in late in the day and continue into Tuesday. This will be followed by a cool down.
