Pueblo police catch wanted felon, recover stolen car

Officers were executing a search warrant on a home when they found a woman who was wanted for attempted homicide and parole violation.

Police arrested Holly Moreno and found another wanted woman at the home. Authorities also recovered a stolen car.

Police say they believe Moreno and Joshua Howard were responsible for attacking Jason Ayala while he was riding his bike on August 13 in the 1500 block of E. Evans St.

“They had tried to run him over in their car,” said Pueblo Police Captain Kenny Rider. “Then the passenger stood up out of the sunroof of the vehicle and shot at the victim.”

Ayala did not experience life-threatening injuries and ran into a nearby bar asking for help shortly after he was shot. Police discovered that Ayala did have a felony warrant out for his arrest in connection to motor vehicle theft charges and was booked into jail.
