Mt. Carmel hosts job fair for veterans

Mt. Carmel hosted a job fair for veterans Wednesday to help fill a big need in Florence.

The job fair took place at the Mt. Carmel Service Center from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The Justice Department was the event looking to fill 50 Correctional Officer positions. The positions are at the Florence, Colo., Federal Correctional Complex with a starting salary of $43,000 along with benefits.

Priority consideration was given to veterans with disabilities, those with wartime deployment service and those who have left the service within the last three years. Employment is open to honorably discharged veterans.

Job seekers were asked to bring a current resume, DD214, any VA Disability letters, a government-issued ID and proof of wartime service, if applicable.
