Firefighters feed baby, shovel driveway after new mom calls 911 for medical issue
Jessica Giffin didn’t want to call 911 at first; her wedding ring was stuck and her finger started to swell and turn blue quickly, but she wasn’t expecting the help she ended up getting for a simple call.
According to ABC affiliate KMBC, Giffin’s infant son woke up while firefighters were working on removing her ring.
“I was overwhelmed because I knew he needed to eat, but there was no way I could feed him while they worked on getting my ring off,” Giffin told KMBC.
So one of the firemen swooped in with a bottle, fed Giffin’s son, and even burped him.
Then a second firefighting crew showed up and decided to take care of the family dogs and then shovel Giffin’s driveway and patio.
“I felt like I had a room full of angels and the comfort they provided was Godsent,” Giffin said.
She said it made the experience a lot less scary despite the firefighters ultimately having to cut her ring off.
