Denver adult tests positive for measles virus, visits several locations around town

Health officials are notifying the public who may have been exposed to measles by an individual in Denver last week.

According to Denver 7, the adult who contracted the virus while traveling internationally has not been identified but was in Denver from Jan. 9 – 14.

The measles virus is highly contagious to those who come in contact with it and can be spread by coughing or sneezing.

The contagious individual visited the following places around Denver between those dates.

Blue Creek Therapeutic Health Spa
7488 E. 29 th Ave., Denver
Thursday, Jan. 10 between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

King Soopers
2810 Quebec St., Denver
Thursday, Jan. 10 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Care Now Urgent Care
3001 N. Havana St., Denver
Friday, Jan. 11 between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Saint Joseph Hospital ER
1375 E. 19 th Ave., Denver
Sunday, Jan. 13 between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Saint Joseph Hospital, 5 th floor, west wing
1375 E. 19 th Ave., Denver
Sunday, Jan. 13 at 8:30 p.m. to Monday, Jan. 14 at 3:30 p.m.

Officials warn that if you visited the above locations between those times and dates and begin to notice symptoms of measles, contact a health care provider by phone immediately. They ask that you not show up to the doctor in person because of the risk of exposing the virus to other people.

Symptoms of the measles include fever, runny nose, cough, full-body rash, red eyes that are sensitive to the light and body aches. It’s important to remember the symptoms may not show up right away. They usually take one to two weeks to appear. A person who is infected will be contagious for four days before and four days after symptom appear.
