Attempted homicide suspect runs from Colorado Springs police

Officers were responding to the 5300 block of Derby Dr. for a follow-up on a fraud case when they saw the suspect leave the scene in a green Jeep Cherokee.

The suspect was wanted on a felony warrant for a probation violation for menacing when he ran from police Monday evening. Police say he drove the Jeep through a wooden fence and into the side yard of a trailer as he tried to get away from law enforcement. He then drove the vehicle through the yard and through another fence, causing $13,000 dollars in damage.

The suspect drove away from the scene and the vehicle was later discovered in the 200 block of North Murray Blvd. Police say the vehicle was abandoned and the suspect fled on foot.

According to police information, the suspect and the Jeep were involved in an attempted homicide which occurred in the Stetson Hills Division.

Police have yet to release the name of the suspect. KRDO has reached out to the Colorado Springs Police Department and will bring you updates on this story.
