Colorado Springs police reveal common factors of 2018 deadly crashes

Last year was a particularly deadly year on Colorado Springs roads with 48 people losing their lives in 2018.

It’s a record for the city, and not a good one.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 asked Colorado Springs Police, what are the biggest factors in the 48 deaths?

Springs Police said it was speeding, impairment and distracted driving.

Lt. Howard Black with CSPD said it’s a change in the community that’s necessary to keep everyone safe on the roads.

“It’s really all of us taking responsibility for when we get behind that motor vehicle,” Black said.

So far, there have been two people killed in traffic accidents this year.
