Weather Alert Friday 1-10-19

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with snow developing west of I-25. By midnight, most places through the central mountains and in our local mountain cities will be seeing that snow. Watch out for icy, high elevation roads! Some rain initially mixing with snow is possible in the lower elevations and will be spreading east by tomorrow morning. Overnight lows will be in the 20s and 30s.

TOMORROW: Snow showers will begin for parts of the I-25 corridor couple hours before sunrise with the highest impact to travel likely north of Colorado Springs to Monument Hill. Pueblo areas as well as the southeastern plains will begin the day under cloudy skies with rain/wintry mix in the morning with a changeover to all snow expected by the afternoon hours on Friday. Light accumulations expected (1-3″) for the plains as well Colorado Springs. Moderate to heavy snow will be confined to higher terrain around Teller County and Northern El Paso County as well as the Southern Mountains.

EXTENDED: Scattered snow showers likely through Friday, so watch out for icy spots on bridges and overpasses. Snow will be accumulating through the day and the worst driving conditions should become present by Friday night. Snow starts to taper off following midnight on Saturday, leaving the area with moderate accumulations. Some areas near the southern mountains could see more significant snow totals. Snow will taper off by Saturday afternoon but clouds will stay in place through most of Saturday with some periods of sunshine coming through by Sunday. Stay with KRDO for the latest!
