Parents keep kids home from Pueblo schools after shooting threat

Two Pueblo schools received numerous tips that threats were being made, prompting some parents to keep their kids home from school Thursday.

The threats were directed towards Liberty Point International and Skyview middle schools. The school found out about the threats through the Safe 2 Tell app.

A tip through app stated that someone was scared there might be a shooting at Skyview and Liberty Point middle school. The reporting party continued to say they were at Walmart in Pueblo when they heard two men in long coats talk about going to the schools and “shooting them up.”

The two men were said to have long black trench coats and beards and said they were going to carry out their plan on Jan. 10, 2019.

All reports are being dealt with by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Dept. and School District 70.

Liberty Point International will have a lock-in in place on Thursday. Only students, school staff, district administration and law enforcement will be allowed in the building.

Armed officers will be at Liberty Point and Skyview middle schools on Thursday.

Chris Slobodnik, the principal at Liberty Point International said students will be excused if parents decide to keep their kids at home.
