Colorado Top 10 Sex Offender arrested in Tennessee

One of Colorado’s most wanted sex offender fugitives was arrested Thursday morning in Morristown, Tennessee.

According to WATE News, Pete Custer, 65, was number eight on Colorado’s Top 100 Sex Offender Fugitive List. He’s allegedly been on the list since February 2017.

WATE reports he was arrested 10 a.m. at a Morristown grocery store. Custer as convicted in Los Angeles in 1991 of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under the age of 14. He was in and out of prison in California and later fled to Colorado where he was arrested and put in prison.

During the time of his most recent arrest, Custer was released and marshals say he fled from parole and on the run once again.

Authorities had been searching for Custer since earlier this month before the trail went cold in Key West Florida where he got an I.D. card in 2017. New efforts eventually led marshals to an East Tennessee location.

Authorities say U.S. Postal Inspectors, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Officer were all in assistance with the arrest.
