Cooler weather after a long stretch of hot temperatures here in southern Colorado

It's another hot one on this Monday here in southern Colorado. We are under a Heat Advisory until 8 p.m. tonight, and we also have an Air Quality Alert for our area through Tuesday morning. In addition to the heat, we have smoky skies over most of our area. The smoke will persist into the evening hours, with light breezes. Overnight lows will fall into the lower 60s.

A cold front overnight tonight will bring much cooler temperatures on Tuesday. Most areas will see a cooldown of about 15 degrees, with highs in the lower 80s. We do have a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday.

The warm air returns on Wednesday with a slight chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. We will see highs near 90 degrees along the I-25 Corridor, and much warmer temperatures out on the Eastern Plains.

We will see dry and hot conditions once again as we head into Thursday and Friday. Expect highs in the low to mid 90s.

The weekend will bring another round of heat conditions. It will be mostly sunny on Saturday and Sunday, with highs in the mid to upper 90s.
