Crash into I-25 sound barrier wall in Colorado Springs sends 3 to hospital

A car flipped into a light pole and a sound barrier wall near the side of Interstate 25 Sunday afternoon just south of Uintah in Colorado Springs.

According to police, the car was driving southbound went it went off the road and crashed at about 4 p.m. All but one lane was closed due to the accident.

Three people, including one young child, were in the car and were taken to the hospital for treatment and injuries. They’re expected to survive.

“Considering the year we just had, we always encourage people to be careful and safe on our city’s roads and be careful when you’re driving down the interstate,” Lt. John Koch said. “We want, going into 2019, to reduce that number and it starts with the community being involved in driving safely.”

Police say there’s a possibility that drugs played a role in the crash, but that’s still under investigation.
