Shield 616 hosts ceremony to present active shooter kits to CSFD, Fire Station #1

The non-profit organization, Shield 616, held a ceremony Wednesday to present “active shooter kits” to the 24 members of the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Station #1.

This marks the first donation to CSFD by Shield 616, an organization funded by local sponsors and community members. Through these donations, Shield 616 focuses on the importance of keeping local first responders safe, providing them with protective body armor. (PHOTOS)

Wednesday’s ceremony gave Station # 1 firefighters the chance to personally meet and thank the sponsors for their donations. It also gave sponsors the chance to personally thank some the many brave Colorado Springs first responders.

Each of the 24 firemen and women was presented with their personalized active shooter kit. These included several pieces of lifesaving gear, including ballistic helmets and ballistic plate carrier vests.

Shield 616 hopes ceremonies like these will encourage future sponsors to donate to their cause until all first responders (EMS, law enforcement, and firefighters) citywide are equipped with this gear.
