Person Displaced After Fire in East Colorado Springs Apartments

A fire was reported around 10 this morning at an apartment complex on East Colorado Springs, that’s when the Colorado Springs Fire Department headed to Casa de Cerro Apartments.

The apartments are located at 915 North Yuma Street, that’s just up the street from a Salvation Army Headquarters.

No smoke or flames were visible but as you can see from the pictures, several units were called to the scene. The heavy response is a precaution because the scene is at an apartment complex.

According to the fire department, the fire was in the ceiling and roof area of an upper unit of the three-floor apartment building. Yampa Street was closed for several blocks, west of Circle Drive.

One person was displaced and is being helped by the Red Cross.

No word on the cause or how extensive the damage was.

We’ll keep you updated once we learn more.
