Weather alert day: bitter cold and snow showers – 12/28/18

TODAY: Its going to be a bitter cold start to the morning with temperatures in the teens. Wind chills could be as cold as -5 this morning, so avoid standing out in the cold this morning. Be sure to layer up, too! Today brings partly cloudy skies and the chance for some afternoon snow showers along and west of I-25. Accumulation will be very minor and should mostly be contained to places south of Canon City.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and cold. Overnight lows will be in the single digits. Mountain cities could be as cold as -2 tonight.

EXTENDED: The weekend looks much better. Look for partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday with highs getting back into the 30s and 40s. New Years Eve will brings the chance for some snow, and temperatures in the single digits to below zero for those evening plans. You’ll have to dress warm! We will start the first day of 2019 with a few snow showers before clearing out.
