El Paso County annual TreeCycle begins Saturday, recycle old Christmas trees

The annual TreeCycle begins Saturday, Dec. 29, in El Paso County. Anyone who wants to recycle their Christmas trees can do so at several locations around town.

There are a total of six convenient locations for those wanting to recycle their trees. All they need to do is provide a minimum donation of only $5 per tree.

The goal for the event is to reduce landfilled tree waste, provide free mulch, and support youth sports. All the proceeds go to funding Colorado Springs Youth Sports, a non-profit organization that operates the Youth Sports Park.

Several organizations around town are involved in the take back including El Paso County, the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs Utilities, Rocky Top Resources, Colorado Springs Gazette, and Colorado Youth Sports.

Tree and donations will be accepted at the following locations between 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 29-30 and January 5-6 at:

– Baptist Road Trailhead (Baptist Road & Old Denver Highway)

– Falcon Trailhead (SW of Woodmen Road & McLaughlin Road)

– Cottonwood Creek Park (Dublin Blvd. & Montarbor Drive)

– Sky Sox Stadium (Barnes Road & Tutt Blvd.)

– Rock Ledge Ranch (Gateway Road & 30th Street)

– Memorial Park (Pikes Peak Avenue & Union Blvd.)

Additionally, trees and donations can be made at Rocky Top Resources on 1755 E. Las Vegas Street from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturdays from December 26-28 and January 2-31.

Also, keep in mind, all decorations MUST be removed from trees before drop-off
