Victim identified in fatal mobile home fire in Cimarron Hills

UPDATE: We now know the name of the man killed in a mobile home fire off Western Drive last Wednesday.

Police say 64-year-old Steven Cryer was killed after improperly disposing of a cigarette or smoking pipe inside the Springs Mobile Home Community.

No further details regarding how the fire started have been released. Police are still investigating.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department says a mobile home fire last week that left one man dead was caused by smoking materials that weren’t properly discarded.

CSFD didn’t specify if it was a cigarette or a smoking pipe that was “carelessly” discarded.

The fire happened last Wednesday at a mobile home park on Western Drive. The victim still hasn’t been identified.

Fire investigators said in a release issued Monday that there were no functioning smoke alarms in the home.

The fire is still under investigation by the El Paso County Sheriffs Office and the Cimarron Hills Fire Department.

A fire involving a single-wide mobile home in The Springs Roberts Communities left one person dead Wednesday night.

Cimarron Hills Fire Department, Falcon Fire Department, and PAFD Fire Department were on the scene at 1095 Western Drive.
